Google Pixel 6 Series Released - Price, Tensor chip, All Specs and More

The Google Pixel 6 series is now reviled officially by Google (Updated October 20)

After the Samsung Unpacked event, the second most anticipated smartphones of the year is Google pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 pro, many leaks, and rumors of these devices have been reported, and we know a little bit about this handset.

Google Pixel 6 series: launch date

Google provided an early look at its upcoming flagship Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones. Google has officially designed phones and it's similar to the renders that we have seen earlier.

The most important feature of these phones is the new custom processor, along with a new camera system and design. The expected launch date of the Pixel 6 series is around 15 October 2021.

Google Pixel 6 series: Price (Expected)

So, the expected price of Google Pixel 6 starts around $799-$899 while the Google Pixel 6 Pro starts around $999-$1099. The Pixel 6 series will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, the OnePlus 9 series, Mi 11 Ultra, and iPhone 12 series.

Here are the confirmed and expected specifications of the Pixel 6 series

Google Pixel 6 series: Display

Both phones also have updated displays. The Pixel 6 will have a 90Hz flat panel whereas the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 120Hz curved display.

The Pixel 6 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch flat FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 6 Pro sibling has a 6.7-inch QHD curved display with a 120HZ refresh rate.

Google Pixel 6 series: Design and Build

The Pixel 6 Pro has a glossy metal frame and glass on the back. Both phones have this slightly retro-looking camera bar at the back that is reminiscent of the Nexus 6P.

Now the coral color we saw in the leaks is only exclusive to the Pixel 6. It is also coming in 2 more colors- black and a mint green type variant. The Pixel 6 Pro is coming in 3 colors as well- black, white, and exciting golden color.

Both phones are going to have an under-display fingerprint scanner, a first for Google Pixel phones!

Google Pixel 6 series: Camera

Both phones have the same wide and ultra-wide cameras but the Pixel 6 Pro will also have a 4x telephoto. Both will have a single-hole punch camera at the top. No specs are available for these at the moment.

Google also seems to have upped its video recording game with this generation. Initial hands-on reports suggest that the Pixel 6 captures similar or even better quality video than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Google Pixel 6 series: Tensor Chip Inside

Both phones are going to pack in Google s own custom SOC which is being called Google Tensor Chip. Now this chip will allow Google to do much more than they previously could with the Pixel line. The very first thing is better photo and video processing. Google s Pixel line has always been average at the video but with the Pixel 6 series, Google is implementing their image processing prowess to the video as well.

This will enable the Pixel 6 series to take much better videos than pixel phones previously could.  Other than that, Google will be able to do much more AI computational processing on these phones making Google Assistant even smarter.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro run on Google's new Tensor processor. This is a custom-designed chip, which means even if it may be manufactured by a third party, the design of the chip is done by Google. This is similar in concept to the A-series processors that Apple has on its iPhone.

The Tensor processor on the Pixel 6 series does not have any confirmed specs at this point. We also do not know who will be manufacturing them for Google, although previous rumors pointed to Samsung.

Google claims it will make the Pixel 6 the fastest, smartest, and most secure Pixel phone yet. One prominent feature of this chip is its AI and machine learning capabilities, which seemingly exceed anything Google has had before on its phones.

Another benefit of using their own silicon instead of Snapdragon is in the software department. At first, Google was limited with 3 years of software support due to Snapdragon chips but with their tensor chip, Google is expected to support 5 years of software updates for the Pixel 6 which is going to be a game-changer!.

In fact, according to Google, it was the main reason the company invested in designing its own chip so that it can implement its Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning features in a way it couldn't with off-the-shelf parts.

Google could also use this chip in its other products to develop an ecosystem just like Apple.

All these upgrades could mean that the phones are going to be pretty expensive but maybe Google has a trick up its sleeve.

Google Pixel 6 series: Battery and Charging

So, right now there is no confirmation for the Pixel 6 series, but According to GSM Arena, The Google Pixel 6 has a 4500mAh battery with USB Power Delivery 3.0 while the Pixel 6 pro has a massive 5000mAh battery and it also comes with a USB Power Delivery 3.0. Both phones support wireless charging and reverse charging

Google Pixel 6 series: All-new Android 12 with Material You Design

As expected, both phones are going to launch with Android 12 along with the material you redesign! The Google Pixel 6 series will be one of the first phones with Android 12 and Material You Design.
